Mahwah man charged with possessing, distributing child pornography

Mahwah – Ryan J. Gomez, 30, of 405 Franklin Turnpike, was arrested on Monday, Dec. 5, charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, specifically possessing and distributing child pornography, according to Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli.

Gomez

Gomez is a U.S. Army recruiter and is married. He was arrested without incident, according to Molinelli. Among those who assisted with the arrest were the Mahwah Police Department, Molinelli said.

According to Molinelli, the arrest stemmed from an investigation in which Gomez allegedly used the Internet to acquire and distribute child pornography. The pornography included images and videos of pre-pubescent children engaged in sexual acts.

As of Dec. 5, Gomez was being held at the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack in lieu of $50,000 bail with no ten percent and no Internet usage. The arraignment was scheduled at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in front of Judge Liliana DeAvila- Silebi.
