Police Accuse Orland Park Man of Possessing Child Pornography on Computer

An Orland Park man is facing two felony charges after child pornography was found on his computer, according to authorities.

Orland Park police arrested 28-year-old Eric A. Holt, of the 8400 block of Wheeler Drive on Oct. 17, after a search warrant was granted and child pornography was found a computer belonging to him, Orland Park Police Commander John Keating said Monday.

The Orland Park Police Department was contacted about Holt by personnel with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Keating said.

“We have one of our computer specialists assigned to the State’s Attorney’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit, and a Chicago police detective works under that umbrella as well,” Keating said. “They notified us that they were able to track a computer IP address with known pornography on it, and we secured the warrant.”

The arrest happened about a week after Orland Park police were first told about Holt, according to a release.

Holt does not have similar arrests on record. While child pornography was only found on Holt’s computer, a forensic investigation will continue with items taken from Holt’s home, Keating said.

“All three of the participating agencies take child pornography seriously and we aggressively investigate these cases,” Keating said. “The cooperation between the three agencies allowed us to work quickly.”

Holt is charged with aggravated possession of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

Judge Peter Felice gave Holt a $100,000 bail on Oct. 18 at the Bridgeview Courthouse, according to the release.

He is scheduled to be back in court on Nov. 13.
