A contribution given directly to CARING FOR OUR CHILDREN FOUNDATION is used entirely for grants. We encourage giving DIRECT by check, credit or debit via secure On-line PayPal or mail to PO BOX 3592 Everett, WA 98203.

CFOC has no paid personnel, and its low overhead includes rent, accounting, phone and postage. A direct contribution gift to CFOC of $25.00, $2,500 or $25,000 will go entirely into grants, after minimal costs noted above, so, please DESIGNATE your donation to “grants” and feel free to give directly.

CFOC is a grant giving entity, and it is our desire to give grants to benefit only under-funded or under-budgeted entities and projects serving victimized children.

The IRS 990 report will reflect a cost allocation ratio of ‘program vs. fundraising’ including, but not limited to, call center activities. It is a fluid formula that is highly subjective, and it will fluctuate year to year; and it is based on outsourced contracts to call centers or direct mail projects—all cost-saving and timesaving features for CFOC. The ratio is subject to whether the entity is paid by revenue share, cost per contact, or cost per man-hour, and whether there is a Call to Action message included in the appeal. Therefore, the ratio can be considered askew and not as clear as it could be. Call center activities are necessary to reach more people than we can with limited staff, and we are pleased with the value of their services in outreach—This gratitude is not expressed in the 990 cost allocation ratio of ‘program vs. fundraising’ costs.

OTHER WAYS TO GIVE DIRECTLY: CFOC can serve as a non-profit fiscal sponsor for a public service project your company may wish to conduct benefiting children; you may hold a fundraising event or concert then donate the proceeds to CFOC; you may sponsor gift baskets or provide goods for the baskets; you may sponsor children who are victims of crime to go to camp; you can hold bake sales or garage sales and donate the proceeds; you can underwrite the startup costs for a 2nd hand store; you may donate services or goods CFOC can turn into cash or pass along to victim families. Minimal overhead costs may apply depending on the project.

Whether you choose to give through one of our call centers or directly to CFOC, you can maximize and double your donation by using a MATCHING GIFTS PROGRAM. Please check with your Human Resources Department.

WHY DID CFOC CONTACT YOU?
First, your community can become a safer place for children and we have an important message to share with you to pass forward when the chance affords itself. Second, to give grants to children, your support is needed. This allows you to hear our vital message and choose to give via a call center’s appeal, if you wish. Would you have known about CFOC or thought to lend a voluntary hand or give a financial gift if someone had not first called and introduced you to CFOC? Likely not, because CFOC does not have an advertising budget to reach you. Therefore, CFOC out-sources these activities to professional call centers capable of asking for a volunteer action, and financial support to help us give grants for assisting young victimized children. This appeal usually takes about two minutes of your time and they ask you to give between $20 and $500, or more in some cases.

CFOC gives grants from 100 percent of the resulting net dollars. CFOC retains a base minimum percentage weekly for grants. When the call center’s expenses exceed the funds donated, which frequently are the case, it takes the risk to insure we have weekly grant funds. This agreement is much less costly than hiring a promotional firm or advertising agency. This means we will never be left owing the call center, and they will cover the overages so that children’s charities are always the recipient of grants, no matter the actual cost.

We trust you will understand why this business model works for CFOC. A little from you today, when combined with gifts from others tomorrow, goes a long way to helping the charitable efforts we have in mind. We thank those who give via call centers, allowing us to reach more people with an important public service message, particularly one where the well-being a child is involved. We also deeply appreciate those who think to give directly.

HOW DO I GET ON THE CFOC DO NOT CALL LIST?

Keep our direct giving information handy and CFOC will gladly distribute a grant from your mailed or secure on-line contribution to a viable and trusted child related organization.

HOW DO WE USE DONOR INFORMATION?
In some cases, a call center or CFOC may share your name with likeminded charitable entities, or we may use it to issue a letter of appreciation for your support and kindness.

CFOC GRANTS 100% OF NET DOLLARS:
When all funds are combined (from all resources after expenses such as the cost of public education, fundraising and its related costs, rent, accounting, and miscellaneous incidental expenses), CFOC gives away 100 percent of every net dollar received in the form of grants to under-funded and un-funded, trusted selected nonprofit charitable entities and projects to benefit at-risk children.

CFOC CHOOSES ITS GRANTEES CAREFULLY:
Grants will be given to under-funded faith-based and non-faith-based efforts such as: locating, rescuing, feeding, and housing abandoned, feral, and thrown-away children via impoverished efforts in America, Africa, China, Greece, and Russia; sharing in the legal costs related to a child’s safety; funding temporary shelter, or housing and transportation to recover abducted children or children of abuse; training case managers; providing ongoing support to child victims of violent crime such as trauma and grief materials or mentoring; assisting in the purchase of equipment and furniture; sending at-risk children to camps; providing start-up seed monies for shelters; covering overhead during emergency situations; providing public awareness alerts to the whereabouts of sexual predators in one’s own neighborhood; informing where to turn for help in any abuse struggle; and so much more, as funds permit.

CFOC does not give grants to well-known, well-funded organizations. The trustees choose those with more passion to help than their wallet can provide for. CFOC does not provide the programs; it gives to existing or pilot programs/projects serving children.

CFOC is dedicated to do more as funds increase, and CFOC is counting on you to help with your 100 percent tax-deductible donation large or small, whether given directly or indirectly. Please choose to do something--don’t choose to do nothing.
