Amber Alert issued for Harlan County girl
LOYALL, Ky. – An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing six-year-old from Harlan County, Kentucky.
UPDATE: 2:00 p.m. – Authorities canceled the Amber Alert Wednesday afternoon. Police say Larry Bailey is in custody, and Shelly Bailey is safe.
Shelly Bailey, six-years-old, was taken from the Riovesta Apartment Community in Loyall, Kentucky on April 5 around 4:45 p.m. Shelly was at her aunt’s apartment awaiting a Child Services pick up when Larry Bailey, who is listed on the Birth Certificate as the father, allegedly took the child from her aunt.
Police made contact with the suspect via cellular phone, and Bailey advised that he was not going to let the child go into Foster care and would let the State of Arkansas fight over custody. When police advised him he needed to return the child and turn himself in, Bailey allegedly made threats in reference to harming the child and refused to comply with Law Enforcement.
Larry Bailey lives in Arkansas, and may be returning to Arkansas after comments he made to police. They are travelling in a white car, unknown make and model, with Arkansas tags.
