Arlynn Georgeson pleads guilty to child pornography charges

BENTON, Ill. (KSDK) – A Glen Carbon man pleaded guilty Monday to federal child pornography charges, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois Stephen Wigginton said.

According to court documents, FBI agents in separate states were able to download images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct from a computer linked to 54-year-old Arlynn Georgeson in September 2011.

The FBI obtained a search warrant of Georgeson’s Glen Carbon residence and seized a laptop computer. Investigators examined Georgeson’s laptop and discovered 16,282 images and 512 videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Several of the images had been downloaded by Georgeson in December 2011 using a file sharing program.

Georgeson told prosecutors he downloaded the images while his wife was at work. He also admitted to having some pornographic images involving infants.

Arlynn Georgeson pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography. He faces between five and 20 years in prison, a fine up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of five years to life for the first count. For the second count, Georgeson faces 10 to 20 years, a fine up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of five years to life for the second count.

Georgeson must also register as a sex offender and agreed to forfeit his computer. He will be sentenced October 1, 2013.
