Fall River man arrested for child abuse

Fall River Police are investigating a case of child abuse that led to the arrest of a 24-year-old Fall River man.

Police say they responded to St. Anne’s Hospital Friday morning for a report of a three-year-old child with injuries.  Officials say the boy allegedly received the injuries while in the care of a family acquaintance.  The child was subsequently transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

Fall River police issues an arrest warrant for 24-year-old John Arruda of Fall River after their investigation.

Arruda was arrested just before 7 a.m. Saturday morning at the Sunset Hill Housing Project.  He is charged with assault and battery on a child with substantial injury and wanton or reckless endangering of a child.
