Former Faribault Teacher Charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct in Incidents …

A former teacher at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault faces 17 sexual misconduct, child pornography charges related to incidents involving students at the school.

According to the Department of Public Safety, 70-year-old Lynn Phillip Seibel is charged with two counts of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of solicitation of a child to engage in sexual conduct, one count of using a minor in sexual performance/pornography and 12 counts of 4th degree criminal sexual conduct.

He also faces one count of possession of child pornography.

The investigation was opened in June of 2012 after a man reported to an Olmsted Community Corrections employee that he had been assaulted by Seibel in 2001, while he was a student at the school.

Investigators identified four other former students who said similar incidents took place between 2001 and 2003.

One victim told officers the Jerry Sandusky case reminded him of Seibel.

According to the criminal complaint, Seibel resigned from the school in 2003 after he was confronted by the headmaster regarding pornography on his school issued computer.

Child pornography was found in a forensic search of the computer.

The material from the 2003 forensic evaluation was packaged as evidence and is being held at the BCA.

Seibel is currently in jail in Los Angeles, Calif. on charges unrelated to this investigation.
